  9. A proposed draft API was presented by Oscar Newkerk followed by a
  10. question and answer session.  Issues raised during the presentation
  11. were:

  13. There seems to be a requirement for a set of services that are not
  14. addressed by the draft.  This set was referred to as "MIB Services" and
  15. characterized as providing online access to the object and attribute
  16. definitions in the MIB documents.  It was felt that this type of
  17. information would be required to allow the API to translate an operation
  18. against an object in a MIB into the appropriate parameters for the
  19. protocol that was being used to encode the operation.  This work will be
  20. evaluated by the MSI working group either for inclusion in the API draft
  21. or as a separate document.

  23. There is a section in the draft API document that deals with alert
  24. handling services.  This needs to be evaluated in light of the output
  25. from the Alertman working group.

  27. The draft API will be reformatted and submitted to the internet-drafts
  28. directory as an Internet draft, with the addition of a note that it is
  29. an interim draft and will be reworked by the MSI working group.

  31. There were two other people at the meeting that expressed interest in
  32. working on the editing of the draft API. These were Sudhanshu Verma/HP
  33. and Dave Perkins/3COM. An editing meeting will be arranged for sometime
  34. early in March 1990.

  36. In addition, Sudhanshu Verma volunteered to become the co-chair for the
  37. MSI working group.
